1st Announcement
About the Symposium
We have the great pleasure to announce you that the Faculty of Forestry,
Universitas Gadjah Mada and the University of Tokyo Forests will host the
3rd International Symposium of Long-term Forest Monitoring Research in
Asia, which will be held by hybrid type on MAR 06-07, 2023 followed by
three 1-day excursions. The Symposium is supported by the Japan Society
for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Core-to-Core Program (B. Asia-Africa
Science Platforms) “A research hub of long-term forest monitoring field
centers on environmental changes and ecosystem responses: Collaborating
for data, knowledge and young researchers”. It includes a plenary session,
the three RG sessions, and a poster session.

Research Groups
The main theme of this symposium is the scientific discussion for long-term
monitoring and ecosystem services in Asian University Forests. On Tuesday,
March 07, the following three research group (RG) sessions will be held
in parallel. New joint research proposals will be welcomed. The major topics
of the RG sessions are as follows:

RG 1: Water & Climate


· Water cycling and climate changes in Asian forests


· Long-term hydrological and meteorological data


· Ecosystem services associated with physical and chemical processes

RG 2: Ecosystem & Biodiversity


· Ecosystems and biodiversity in Asian forests


· Long-term biological and ecological data (flora &fauna, LTER, etc.)


· Ecosystem services associated with biological and ecological processes

RG 3: Sustainable Management


· Anthropogenic interventions in Asian forests


· Long-term geospatial and management data


· Ecosystem services associated with social, economic and cultural values

during the core time for the poster presentation (16:00-17:00 GST+7:00,
MON, MAR 06, 2023).
Onsite Poster Display
Poster board (1 m (W) x 2.5 m (H)) will be prepared. Authors
should bring their printed version of their own
poster (A0 portrait) and display on the designated board.
Online participants
can ask his/her colleague to bring
a hard copy (A0 portrait) and display at the venue.
