SNU – UTokyo Joint Workshop on Long-term Monitoring and Data Analysis of Forest Resources and Environment

About the Joint Workshop
We are pleased to inform you that the University Forests of Seoul National University (SNU) will host the 2nd Workshop on Long-term Monitoring and Data Analysis of Forest Resources and Environment, which will be held at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea on 8-11 May, 2017. The Workshop is jointly organized by the University of Tokyo (UTokyo) Forests under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Core-to-Core Program (B. Asia-Africa Science Platforms) “Developing a network of long-term research field stations to monitor environmental changes and ecosystem responses in Asian forests”. It includes two-day workshop and post-workshop excursion to the long-term monitoring sites in climate, hydrology, and ecology.

May 10-11 - Research Group Excursions
RG1: Taehwa-san UF (SNU) and Gwangneung (Korea National Arboretum)
RG2 & RG3: SNU Southern University Forest (2 days 1 night)

Research Groups
On the 9th of May in the afternoon, the following three research group (RG) sessions will be held in parallel. The topics of the RG sessions are as follows:

RG 1: Water & Climate
Comparative study of hydrological response along with forest recovery in Korea and Japan
Long-term hydrological and meteorological data
RG 2: Ecosystem
Long-term monitoring of vertebrates and insects
RG 3: Management
Research synthesis of long-term experimental plot observations in plantation forests

Workshop Registration Fee (May 8-9)*
Regular fee: KRW 100,000 / person
Student fee: KRW 50,000 / person
*Including workshop program, coffee/tea breaks, lunch, and dinner.

Additional fee should be paid for field excursion in May 10-11.
Regular fee: KRW 100,000 / person
Student fee: KRW 50,000 / person
It includes transportation, accommodation (university forest), and meals.

Call for Abstracts
If you are presenting in the plenary session, RG sessions, and poster session, please send an abstract before 16 April 2017.
Each abstract must not exceed 150 words. Include the Title of Paper, Name, Affiliation, Country, Email Address, and Text (the abstract template attached with this circular).
Please submit the abstract file to the workshop secretariat ().

Presentation Slides Submission
For all the oral presenters, please send the PowerPoint presentation file (.ppt) to the secretariat () before 30 April 2017. Your PowerPoint presentations submitted to us will be printed out and shared in the workshop.


Poster Presentation Guidelines
For all the poster presenters, please prepare the poster in A1 size to be placed vertically.
Only student posters are qualified for the best poster award.
