About the Joint symposium
We are pleased to inform you that the Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University (KUFF) will host the Symposium on Analysis of long-term monitoring data in Asian forests: towards further understanding environmental changes and ecosystem responses, which will be held at Kasetsartl University, Bangkok, Thailand on 27 Nov. – 1 Dec, 2017. The Symposium is jointly organized by the University of Tokyo Forests (UTF) under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Core-to-Core Program (B. Asia-Africa Science Platforms) “Developing a network of long-term research field stations to monitor environmental changes and ecosystem responses in Asian forests”. It includes one and a half-day symposium and post-symposium excursion to the long-term monitoring sites in climate, hydrology, and ecology.

Research Groups
On the 28th of Nov. in the morning, the following three research group (RG) sessions will be held in parallel. The topics of the RG sessions are as follows:

RG 1: Water & Climate
1. Analysis of long-term monitoring meteorological and hydrological data in Asian forests
2. Climatic Classification and Mapping: A Proposal for Asian Experimental Forests
RG 2: Ecosystem
Inventory and long-term monitoring of plants and animals
RG 3: Management
Analysis of long-term geospatial, socioeconomic and management data in Asian forests

Registration from Korea, Taiwan, and Malaysia
The coordinator of each country should email a list of participants from each county to Naoto KAMATA (kamatan@uf.a.u-tokyo.ac.jp), JSPS-C2C Project Leader, no later than 30 June 2017. Necessary information is names and email addresses of participants. Please choose three invited speakers (one for each Research Group) for the plenary session. The JSPS Core-to-Core Project will cover costs of the three invited speakers from each country for their international flights to/from Thailand and registration fee for the symposium and excursion.

Registration fee for volunteer participants
Domestic ········ 500 Baht
International ··· 1,000 Baht + KU Home room charge
Excursion ·········1,000 Baht + accommodation + flight ticket

Call for Abstracts
If you are presenting in the plenary session, RG sessions, and poster session, please send an abstract before 31 August 2017 30 September 2017. Each abstract must not exceed 150 words. Include the Title of Paper, Name, Affiliation, Country, Email Address, and Text (the abstract template attached with this circular). Please submit the abstract file to the secretariat (fforvnt@ku.ac.th).

Poster Presentation Guidelines
For all the poster presenters, please prepare the poster in (A0) size to be placed vertically.
Only student posters are qualified for the best poster award.
