Acorn traits of Japanese Oak in central Japan.
Studying strategy of Masting of Facea trees with Predator satiation and Seed dispersal hypotheses is discussed. The whole behavior of trees with a live of hundreds years cannot be really recorded even with long-term ecological surveys. Heterogeneity of crop fluctuations and acorn morphology among individuals and/or populations should be pictured, and the relationship between the varieties and fitness are required to be proved. I recorded crop fluctuation for four years and tried to estimate the variety of acorn morphology in Chichibu, central Japan. With the temporal results from these surveys, the possibility of the survey strategy mentioned above is discussed.
